Recreational

Welcome to all new and returning Recreational swimmers!

The Recreational Program at Thunder Bay Synchro is designed for girls aged 5 and up and is designed to introduce swimmers to the sport, enhance swimming flexibility and strength, while having fun and building friendships.

Girls entering the Recreational Program must be able to swim a
distance of 50 meters. No previous experience is required for recreational swimming, however, swimmers must be able to:

  • float independently
  • submerge head
  • move freely in deep water

Athletes train one hour and thirty mins, once per week on Tuesdays or Saturdays, for twenty weeks at the Lakehead University Pool in Thunder Bay. Our Recreational program runs on Tuesdays from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. or Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sessions will end with the Spring Watershow in April, 2016.

Throughout each Recreational session, the swimmers will work on a routine to display at the Watershows. Our Recreational swimmers are invited to perform at the two Thunder Bay Synchro Watershows, which are held in the Winter and Spring. The recreational athletes will also be invited to perform at our three local mock competitions where the athletes will perform 10 skills and the routine. The purpose of the mock competition is for the recreational athletes to view and participate in the competition experience without having to travel out of town.
