Competitive

For swimmers that love the sport of synchro, and want to pursue it beyond the basics, Thunder Bay Synchro offers a competitive stream for beginner and advanced synchro levels. Competitive Synchronized Swimming builds from the Pre-Competitive and Recreational Programs.

Thunder Bay Synchro offers a Competitive Program in several age groups. This past year Thunder Bay Synchro had teams competing at both the provincial and interprovincial levels.

Some swimmers at the competitive level may also also have the opportunity to opt to train for duets or solos to be performed at the Watershow(s) and/or competition(s).

Competitive swimmers practice several times per week and compete at two to three competitions per year. The practice times and days are at the Lakehead University Pool on Tuesdays (4-6 p.m.), Thursdays (4-6 p.m.), Saturday mornings (9 a.m. – 12 p.m.), and Sundays (3:30 – 6 p.m.), with approximately one Sunday off per month. The 12 and under age group will train three days per week.

Team levels are based on the Synchro standards, with team ages: 12 and under, ages 13 to 15, and ages 16 and up.

Competitive swimmers perform at two Watershows each season, which are held in the Winter and Spring. Each year specific meets are attended, based on a decision made by the Head Coach, and the Parent Advisory Group. There are specific uniform requirements.

* PLEASE NOTE that synchronized swimming experience may not be required, depending on swimming skills.
